Pashta's loved ones were imprisoned, tortur. It also revolves heavily around politics during the power and rule of the Shah, and the community where Pashta lives in all oathe the Shah and government. The romance was sweet and enjoyable, before a tragedy occurred. All the characters had so much personality, depth, and emotion. His best friend Ahmed is hilarious and loyal and one of the shining stars of the book.
Pashta is admirably intelligent, knowledgeable and has a way with words. Reading about Persian culture was interesting and refreshing.
